A checkbook and an ATM card in one
Debit Mastercard® BusinessCard® Tips, Info & FAQs
Looks like a credit card. Works like a check. Acts like an ATM card.
The Debit Mastercard BusinessCard from United Texas is the most convenient way to access your business checking account. Our business members can use it to immediately access the funds in their accounts via ATM, signature, chip and PIN transactions. Plus, they get surcharge-free access to their funds at almost 30,000 ATMs in the nationwide CO-OP network.
The Advantages of EMV Chip Cards
Chips = Greater Fraud Protection
Credit card fraud in the U.S. is more prevalent than ever, and experts think our outdated system is to blame. In fact, more than half of the world’s credit card fraud takes place right here in the U.S. of A, and it’s likely because the magnetic strips on our cards can only store static data, meaning data that can’t be updated. So anyone who gains access to that data can empty your accounts or run up huge credit card bills in a matter of minutes. An EMV card (that’s Europay, Mastercard or Visa) creates new, unique transaction codes for each and every purchase, which makes it harder for crooks to make purchases in your name. Studies show chips are working; between 2015 and 2016, there was a 52% decrease in fraud.
Round the Clock Monitoring
Fraud protection is a full-time job. Lucky for you, the United Texas Business Debit Mastercard grants you the protection of our fraud detection programs which monitor your transactions for suspicious activities 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. If we find something fishy on your account— purchases inconsistent with your normal patterns, unusual time frames and locations, or patterns that line up with current fraud trends—we contact you right away.

As soon as you get your new card, call the number listed on the sticker affixed to the front of your card and follow the instructions. It’s important to secure your debit card and Personal Identification Number (PIN) immediately after you activate the card. If you were issued an Instant Issue Debit Card at one of our branch locations, your card is active as soon as it is produced.
-
How do I change my PIN?
You may call us anytime 24/7 at (210) 561-4500 or toll-free at (800) 531-8456, or visit any of our locations during business hours to change your PIN.
-

No. Each signer will be issued a unique card number.
-
How does the credit union establish the daily limit?
Daily limits are determined at the sole discretion of United Texas management and may change at any time.
-
Why does the credit union establish daily limits?
We establish limits to protect you from unauthorized transactions and limit liability for these transactions. That means you’re protected against unauthorized transactions as required by credit union regulations. The credit union reserves the right to limit its liability for unauthorized transactions by establishing daily limits and the maximum number of transactions authorized per day.
-
Where can I use my debit card?
You may use the card anywhere Mastercard is accepted, which is millions of locations worldwide. To protect you against increasing instances of fraud, the card can only be used in certain foreign countries using your four-digit PIN. In order to safeguard the funds in your checking account, we strongly suggest that you use a credit card, (such as the United Texas Mastercard® BusinessCard) to make purchases when traveling abroad.
-
How quickly will transactions post to my account?
POS purchases will be placed on hold against your checking account balance immediately after the sale takes place. The completion of the final POS purchase will take one to three business days to post your account. PIN-based POS purchases will post to your account immediately.
-
What is a pre-authorized transaction and how will it affect my daily limit?
Some merchants (like restaurants, gas stations and/or hotels) process a pre-authorization as an estimate of the final transaction prior to delivery of their services. The merchant determines the amount of the pre-authorization transaction based on the services to be rendered. The pre-authorized transaction will place a hold on a certain amount of funds until the final transaction clears (about one to three business days).
-
How do I protect my card against unauthorized transactions?
There are several ways you can protect your account from fraud: Secure your card and your PIN, don’t disclose your information, use Online Banking, use the Audio Response System (our 24-hour automated phone service) at (210) 561-4505 or (800) 531-8086 and always review your account statements.
-
How do fraud alerts work?
A text message will arrive with a five‐digit code (33748) and contain our financial institution name, dollar amount of the transaction and merchant name. You will be asked to reply with “Yes” if you authorized the transaction. You will receive a confirming text message and can continue to use your card with confidence. A “No” reply means you have not authorized the transaction. You will receive a confirming text message and you will be contacted immediately by a fraud specialist to protect your account. Please answer this important call.
-
