About Us
From our beginning as a credit union for USAA employees in San Antonio, to where we stand today, United Texas Credit Union has remained committed to improving the financial well-being of our members and the communities we serve.
It all started in April 1955, when a group of 19 USAA employees each contributed $5.00 to establish our credit union. Our first loan, totaling $85, helped reupholster a sofa. This marked the beginning of our journey towards self-sustainability.
Over time, we have broadened our membership to include individuals who live, work, worship or attend school in Bexar, Kendall, Comal, and Tarrant Counties. As a result, we have transformed into a comprehensive financial institution with six branches, over 20,000 members and over $400 million in assets. Despite our remarkable expansion, our commitment to delivering exceptional and friendly service remains unchanged.
