Frequently Asked Questions

Apple Pay: Enrolling is easy! If you’ve already connected your United Texas Mastercard Credit or Debit Card to your iTunes account, just enter the card’s security code when you enroll in Apple Pay. If you haven’t, it’s still easy to add it to Apple Pay! Simply snap a picture of your card with your iPhone or iPad or enter it into the Wallet app.

If you already have other cards enrolled in Apple Pay and want to make your United Texas card your default card, just click and drag your card in your Wallet app to the top of your cards list.

Google Pay: Install the Google Wallet (if not already installed) on your compatible Android device and follow the onscreen instructions to add your United Texas cards as payment options. Once installed, to select a default card, tap the card you want as your default and then tap “Set as default card”.

Samsung Pay: Install the Samsung Wallet app (if not already installed) on your compatible Samsung device and follow the onscreen instructions to add your United Texas cards as payment options. Samsung Pay does not have the option to set a default card. When you open Samsung Pay, the most recently used, viewed, or added card will display.

While it may seem dangerous to load all your card information onto your phone or another device, you should know that mobile wallets are safe from credit card fraud. Your data is encrypted and cannot be seen by the merchant (or anyone) once you upload your card details to your mobile wallet.

This is because mobile wallets benefit from tokenization, meaning that your full credit card number is replaced by a randomly generated number, or token. Consider this compared to traditional payment methods or using your card to dip or swipe at a payment reader. If you pay for a meal at a restaurant by swiping your card, a hacker may be able to retrieve your card information from the merchant’s payment reader. When paying with a mobile wallet instead, your true card numbers are safe thanks to tokenization.

You need to enter a passcode or other method of authentication before using your mobile wallet to pay for a purchase. As long as you create a secure passcode or can remotely wipe sensitive information from your device if it’s lost or stolen, it’s virtually impossible to get access to your cards.
